Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro is the home of the Air CombaCommand's 4th Fighter Wing, an Air Force Reserve Command Unit, the 916th Air Refueling Wing, and several other squadrons and detachments.

The North Carolina Military Business Center helps North Carolina businesses to secure military contracts and to integrate transitioning (retiring or separating) personnel and families into the workforce. The NCMBC also supports the recruitment and development of defense-related businesses. There is a local office in Goldsboro, at Wayne Community College.

Matchforce matches North Carolina businesses to government contracts, government purchasers to NC suppliers, and job seekers to NC jobs. Businesses, contracting officers, cardholders and job seekers can register, post, search and receive e-mailed opportunities.

The Procurement Technical Assistance Center assists North Carolina businesses − including disadvantaged, veteran, and woman-owned businesses - in obtaining and performing under federal, state, and local government contracts. Assistance is also provided in selling to state and local governments in North Carolina.

The North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center provides comprehensive assistance in selling products and services to local, state and federal government entities.
